A doctor's comprehensive eye examination

In a comprehensive eye health exam, our doctors assesses you for the following conditions:

Glasses, contacts and laser surgery: Randhawa checks for near sightedness and far sightedness and will prescribe glasses, contact lenses, orthokeratology or refer you to a surgeon for laser eye surgery (depending on what is best for the patient) to correct your near or far sightedness.

Cataracts: this is the leading cause of vision loss in adults. If caught early and properly treated, cataracts can be treated with 100% success.

Glaucoma this is the second leading cause of blindness. The progress of permanent vision loss from glaucoma can be stopped only if caught early in an eye health exam. Glaucoma sneaks up on many patients who don’t know that they are suffering permanent vision loss. Remember, vision lost to glaucoma cannot be restored. It is critically important to have your eyes checked regularly to stop the disease.

Macular degeneration: this is the leading cause of blindness world-wide and is a common cause of impaired reading or detailed vision and can eventually cause blindness. If caught early in an eye health examination, the progress of the disease can be slowed.

Presbyopia: this is en inevitable condition in which the ability to focus on close objects decreases over time. There is a wide range of treatment options, including bifocals and special contact lenses.

Retinal detachments: Retinal detachments can cause permanent vision loss if not treated with surgery immediately. Dr. Randhawa is able to diagnose retinal detachments in an eye health exam and if she finds one, she makes arrangements with a surgeon to have the surgery completed immediately to minimize the risk of permanent vision loss.

Eye movement disorders: these problems include eye muscle weakness and other conditions affecting the proper functioning of the eye that could lead to difficulties in learning, seeing clearly, sports and others problems. Dr. Randhawa uses Vision Therapy to treat eye motor deficiencies. These disoders include convergence insufficiency, general binocular dysfunctions, strabismus, amblyopia and more.
